Stress Management Activities

Apr 13, 2020, 11:59 AM by YMCA of Pueblo

Stress is the “psychological, physiological and behavioural response by an individual when they perceive a lack of equilibrium between the demands placed upon them and their ability to meet those demands, which, over a period of time, leads to ill-health” (Palmer, 1989).

With new situations, uncertain future, and added pressures, stress levels might be increased during this time. Multiples studies have emphasized the effects of stress. Stress has become one of the most serious health issues of the 20th century and a worldwide epidemic. (“Workplace Stress,” 2018). Which means mental health has received more attention and increased importance over the years.

Stress Management is a set of techniques and programs intended to help people deal more effectively with stress in their lives by analysing the specific stressors and taking positive actions to minimize their effects (Gale Encyclopaedia of Medicine, 2008)

Here is a suggested list of tasks for coping. Many of these suggestions are stress relieving as well as things that would lend themselves to the traditional spring cleaning. They will help with a sense of normalcy, control, and accomplishment.

Bonus: Create a bingo card using these activities for added family fun!
