Pueblo, Colo-- The YMCA of Pueblo is moving past the negativity, bad habits, and
feeling stuck. It’s time to finish out the rest of this year strong in spirit, mind, and
body.
A new program, the Strong Challenge, launches Monday, October 19 initiated by
the YMCA. It is a free six week program designed to transform the lives of
participants by resetting thought patterns, and encouraging physical movement.
This program is open to both members and non members.
“Now, more than ever before we need to recharge and refocus,” said YMCA of
Pueblo President and CEO Janelle Andrews. “The COVID-19 pandemic has worn us
down. It’s isolated us in so many ways. This challenge provides an opportunity to
get active and healthier by yourself or as an entire community.”
The Y is proud to be leading the charge toward a better future and has partnered
with like-minded organizations in the community to provide activities that reset our
focus and switch our mindsets. Black Hills Energy, the presenting sponsor, along
with several other organizations have committed to being STRONGER TOGETHER.
Each week has a theme and suggested activities. Participants are challenged to
incorporate that theme into their lives by doing one or some of the activities. The
idea is to take intentional time to focus on living our best life. For example, one of
the suggested activities is having a no-screen night so that families spend dedicated
time with each other without distractions. Challenges, motivation and celebration
are communicated with participants via texts and the website
puebloymca.org/strong.
“What’s great about this challenge is that it meets people where they are at,”
commented Andrews. “Everyone is invited to workout wherever they are, try a
cycling class at the Y, attend a Zoom chair yoga session from home, or go on a bike
ride through the community.”
Coinciding with this challenge is a trial membership to the Y. Anytime between
October 19 and November 27 memberships are half-price with no joining fee. Must
be redeemed at the front desk.
To sign up for the challenge, go to www.puebloymca.org/strong and click the green
button that says sign up. It’s a seven question form. For questions please call

“It’s the perfect time to take back our lives, reenergize, achieve goals, and feel
better and stronger,” added Andrews.
