For Seniors

During these times of uncertainty, it is important now, more than ever, that we come together as a Y movement to remain connected and foster a sense of community. While facing this unprecedented circumstance and knowing that our older adult population is more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus, we want you to know that we are doing everything we can to help make this group feel connected, heard, comforted, and loved.

Below, we have compiled a list of resources that may be helpful for our older adult population. As a Y, it is our responsibility to ensure that our seniors get all of the help and resources that they may need during this unsettling time.

Y Buddy Program

One of the most valuable things about the Y is the connections and friendships that we've created. Due to social distancing, we're not able to be physically together but that doesn't mean we're alone. We're in this together. We created the Y Buddy Program. Sign up to be connected to a fellow Y member. We'll get you started but it can become whatever you make of it. The Y will facilitate phone calls, letters, virtual activities, and more to bring the social part of the Y home to you.

For Fitness

Now more than ever it's important to prioritize health. That doesn't necessarily mean a certain number, a certain look, or certain activities. Healthy is different for everyone. We want to emphasize the importance of being ACTIVE and fostering whatever it takes for YOU to be healthy. This is where you'll find resources to keep you moving and strengthen your mind, body, and spirit.

For your safety, before working out make sure you are asking these questions:

Do you have stationary equipment?
If a chair is needed in the fitness routine, does it have wheels or is it grounded on the floor?
Are your floors clear and free of hazards?
Are you still warming up, stretching and cooling down?
