Sports
Sports are naturally fun for everyone. We are as interested in developing character as we are in developing healthy athletes. Our coaches stress good sportsmanship and skill development over winning. In 2018, the Dr. Bruno DeRose Memorial Scholarship was established by his family to honor the memory of an amazing man who got his start in sports at the Y and who had a huge heart for the kids in our community.
Full scholarships are offered seasonally to qualified youth in the Y's flag football, basketball, soccer, and volleyball programs. One scholarship per sport, per season will be awarded. Email applications to [email protected]. Learn more about our youth sports leagues here.
BRUNO DEROSE SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP
YMCA Preschool
The Eleanor Crain Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 by family and friends to honor the memory of an amazing woman who had a huge heart for the kids in our community. Before a child's first day of Kindergarten, he or she needs a strong educational foundation to prepare them for their entire school life. Unfortunately, many families may not be able to afford preschool, limiting their children's advantage when entering Kindergarten.
This scholarship provides opportunities for eligible children to access quality early education--supporting lifelong learning. A partial scholarship is offered annually to qualified children in the Y's half-day preschool program. Eligible students must be 3 to 5 years old, a resident of Pueblo County, and complete the required application. Learn more about the Eleanor Crain Memorial Scholarship here.
APPLICATION PROCESS IS MAY 1 - JULY 1, 2026.
Military Outreach Initiative
YMCA of Pueblo is proud to announce that we're taking part in the Military Outreach Initiative program!
We understand that military families are under enormous strain, and that military life comes with unique challenges. Deployments and frequent moves can be a stressful and uncertain time for our nation’s servicemen and women and their families.
In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA, the Y is proud to offer memberships and respite child care services to eligible military families and personnel through the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Military Outreach Initiative.
The Armed Services YMCA has partnered with YMCAs and national and independent fitness centers nationwide to offer service members and families free access to fitness centers and respite child care services*. The Military Outreach Initiative provides service members and military families with additional support and access to vital resources that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. It’s another way of giving back to those who dedicate themselves to serving our country.
