School Age Stage 1 Water Acclimation
Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills preformed with assistance. Swimmers learn personal water safety and introduce basic swimming competency by learning two bench mark skills: 1) Swim, Float, Swim-sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide and exit; 2) Jump, Push, Turn, Grab.
School Age Stage 2 Water Movement
Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently. Swimmers learn personal water safety and introduce basic swimming competency by learning two bench mark skills: 1) Swim, Float, Swim-sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide and exit; 2) Jump, Push, Turn, Grab.
School Age Stage 3 Water Stamina
Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. Swimmers learn personal water safety and introduces basic swimming competency by learning two bench mark skills: 1) Swim, Float, Swim-sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide and exit; 2) Jump, Push, Turn, Grab.
School Age Stage 4 Stroke Introduction
Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke. Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster a lifetime of physical activity.
School Age Stage 5 Stroke Development
For school age children who can swim 25 yards unassisted and show endurance in the water with any stroke or combination of strokes. Students in stage 5 work on stroke technique and learn all major competitive strokes. The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water and sidestroke.
School Age Stage 6 Stroke Mechanics
For school age children who can swim 50 yards unassisted and show endurance in the water with any stroke or combination of strokes. In stage 6, students refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.
